LOVE MEANS EVERYTHING

In the day Serena Williams announced retirement from the courts Vogue pre-launched its September issue celebrating the tennis legend and breaking the news of her goodbye. GATORADE joined this celebration first on Vogue, later in its own channels. I was lucky to work on this one in a lifetime brief.

My role: concept, copywriting and creative direction.

Serena Williams showed the world what a proud black woman who loves herself can achieve.

Her trajectory that started in Compton, at love, is one that inspired girls from all the corners of the world.

This insight has informed all the creative around the tribute to Serena.

We started started at Vogue.

Weeks later at the US Open we launched the second part of Serena’s tribute. A film honoring the movement that she created narrated by Beyonce and launched at the VMAs.
